Welcome to our humble abode. Pull up a seat and grab a glass for a sip from today’s Jug of News. Hit the jump for Brady Bauman joining the JOS team, Marshall Meek’s first column posted this past weekend, a K-Stater won a national championship in track, another was disappointed in her quest, K-State baseball alum Evan Marshall beasting it up, and K-State basketball’s newest coach sat down for an interview with Kellis Robinett.

As I announced on Twitter late last week, JOS has a new senior writer. Brady Bauman joins the team, and will be writing a weekly humor column, which he has decided to call “Bill Snyder Laughed SO Hard.” He will be joining Marshall Meek–whose first Weekly Wildcat Wrap column was posted this past Saturday–as a weekly contributor. Brady’s a very funny guy–you can read his bio here–and I can’t wait to see what he has in store for his first installment.

Over the weekend, several Wildcats competed at the NCAA Outdoor National Championship Track Meet. While Ryann Krais had to be disappointed in her 14th place finish in the heptathlon, she could certainly take pride in bringing home the NCAA’s top academic prize, the Elite 89 Award.

On the men’s side, Erik Kynard won his second straight national championship, clearing 7-8.00 on his first attempt. You can view the video of Erik’s national championship winning jump here. Both He and Ryann are Olympic hopefuls. Also on the track, Mantas Silkauskas finished 7th in the long jump, the highest finish for a Wildcat in that event since 1988.

As noted in our article this past Friday, in addition to rocketing through the Diamondbacks minor league system, Evan Marshall has added yet another accolade to his growing collection. In only his second season as a professional, Marshall has been named a Southern League (Double A)  South Division All-Star.

As you may have heard, men’s basketball coach Bruce Weber finished filling out his coaching staff by hiring his former PG, Chester Frazier. Late last week, Kellis Robinett sat down with Coach Frazier for a one-on-one interview. It’s worth a read.

Finally, please don’t forget to say a prayer (or think a good thought, if that’s your way) for the Bramlage family, whose loss is truly unspeakable. As I wrote in Friday’s special edition Jug Of News, the world is poorer now for having lost that beautiful family.
