Welcome to our humble abode. Today finds us, as we were only days ago upon learning of the death of Brenna Morgart, grieving as K-State Family. Hit the jump for an obituary for six souls, lost far too soon.
Tragic news yesterday, regarding a family all of us “know” in a way. Our pulses quicken, our voices go hoarse, cheering the young men and women who play basketball in the coliseum that bears their family name: Bramlage. Ron Bramlage, his wife Becky, and their four children (all below the age of 15) were killed in a plane crash yesterday, as they returned from vacation.
Ron, 45, was a 1990 graduate of KSU. The grandson of the late Fred Bramlage, whose generous donation led to the building of the aforementioned coliseum, he was piloting the small aircraft. His wife Becky, 43, was also a KSU alum, earning degrees in both 1991 and 1992.
The couple, well-known and much-loved in the Junction City community, supported many local projects, and sponsored college scholarships for deserving young people.
Becky was president of the local schoolboard, and was extremely active in the lives of her children. A friend, Rick Bazan, described her as “tireless…she never stopped working.”
Ron would often help local local families, who had fallen on financial hard times, often helping children go to sports camps, when their parents otherwise could not afford to send them.
Killed with the couple were all four of their children: Brandon, 15; Boston, 13; Beau, 11; and Roxanne, 8.
There really are no words to adequately express the tragedy of this loss. This world is poorer now, for having lost such a family as this. There is really nothing more to say than that.
