By Jameson
Four Wildcats will compete in sectional qualifying for the U.S. Open. Joe Ida, Ben Juffer, and Kyle Weldon advanced to sectionals out of local qualifying rounds, while Aaron Watkins earned a spot in sectionals based upon his 43rd place finish on the Nationwide Tour money list last season.
Juffer finished in second place at the Kansas City qualifier held at The National Golf Course, carding a 70. Ida finished one stroke back of Juffer, in third place, and the pair will now compete in the sectional qualifying round to be held in suburban Chicago.
Meanwhile, Weldon carded a 69, to finish fourth (after winning a playoff) at the local qualifier held in Springfield, Illinois. He advances to play in the sectional to be held in Memphis, Tennessee, where he will be joined by Watkins.
Both sectionals will be held on June 4, while the 112th U.S. Open will be played in San Francisco, at The Olympic Club. The tournament is scheduled to be played from June 11-17.
