Willie’s Wake-Up Call: Michael Bishop Finds Work

Thought Michael Bishop was done playing football? Yep, I guessed wrong too. Bishop just signed a two-year deal with the Calgary Stampeders to replace injured Drew Tate. He was recently coaching HS football and spending time with family in the Houston area.

"“To be honest with you, I had prepared for life without football,” conceded Bishop. “I was at home, enjoying myself, being around my family and doing the things I hadn’t had a chance to do when I was playing. But you can’t control God’s plan. You just have to be ready when you’re called.“It’s going to be a task. I understand the situation here, and I came in to do my part whenever that’s needed. You don’t sit at home waiting for the phone call, but the phone call came, and it’s a situation where it’s an opportunity where I can come in and contribute to a very good football team. So I’ll come up, do my part, learn as much as I can, and if I have to come in and run a couple sneaks, move the ball, that’s my part.”"

After hearing the announcement of Mark Simoneau going into the Kansas Sports Hall of Fame, I started searching for some old video of Mark on YouTube. I found a great Cat Train game introduction featuring him, Terence Newman, Martin Gramatica, and David Allen. The halftime ceremony with video highlights of the ring of honor game for thee four is shown below (and would highly recommend the first minute and a half).
