Big Weekend Ahead!

This weekend will bring a whole lot of action after a long stretch of days with not a whole lot going on. First up tomorrow is the game against Colorado. In the 2nd conference game of the season CU put one on K-State in Bramlage. At the time that seemed a whole lot worse than it actually ended up being. Colorado started out hot and Alec Burks showed himself to be a major problem for teams to deal with The biggest problem is that he’s about all CU has and once everyone figured him out they have returned to status quo and now sit squarely in the middle of the Big 12 with half of the schools. Kansas State on the other hand started out horribly but has somewhat figured things out and is playing better basketball than they were. There’s still a ton of work to be done but I’m more confident about going to Boulder now than anyone could have been at the start of Big 12 play. Sunday shows the Kansas State women some love with a game on the big stage in front of a national audience. In Ames against the #20 Cyclones, the Wildcats will go for a third straight road win which will be shown on ESPN2. If you haven’t kept up with the women’s team this season, this is a great chance to see the great players that have made them a bit of a surprise team. In the preseason poll, Kansas State was picked to finish ninth. Currently they sit alone in 4th place and have a real shot at finishing in the top three. The Baylor women are a buzzsaw that can’t be stopped and are all but a lock for 1st but with a few big games coming up, the women can put some distance in between themselves and the rest of the pack. Watch it live or DVR it, but don’t miss out on a chance to see them in action.

While the women are busy playing, the men will use the day to prepare for KU coming to visit Manhattan. We all know what happened the first time these two played and there’s just no point in ever speaking of that again. The confidence level for a W in that contest isn’t real high but if nothing else the Octagon of Doom should be rocking. Not only is it a rivalry game, but with Kansas State on the tournament bubble, they need a good win. KU coming to town is one of three opportunities left this season for that to happen. The other two are vs. Missouri and then later at Texas. If K-State could make miracles happen and win the two at home I would think they’re in the tournament for sure. Winning one keeps them on the bubble and losing all three probably kicks them out. Whatever happens, three games in three days is a great reward for having to go a week with nothing.

Hate week starts again in two days so get ready and EMAW!
