For our next installment of the 100 day countdown to kickoff against North Dakota State University, 77 marks the days left until kick-off at Bill Snyder Family Stadium and the number worn by Boston Stiverson, who at minimum is a candidate for the Big 12’s All-Name team. He returns to help anchor what should be the league’s best offensive line his redshirt sophomore year with the experience of having started two games and playing in nine during his first year playing with the team.

Stiverson earned a composite score of 80 from 247 Sports as the 17th best player in Kansas and 120th offensive tackle in the nation in the class of 2011. At 6’4” and 312 pounds, he played both sides of the ball at Andover Central where he was named to the 5A All-State offensive team and the All-State third team overall and selected to play in the Kansas Shrine Bowl.

Stiverson has the flexibility to help out at either guard or tackle, and looks to back up Keenan Taylor at right guard (more on Taylor here). Stiverson has the ability to start at most programs, and will develop into the spot as an upperclassman. Although he will likely serve as a reserve this year, expect to see him on the field while spelling teammates throughout the season – particularly if Snyderball continues dominating the time of possession and keeps the offense on the field for extended periods of time. And look out in 2014, when he should blossom into a full-time starter.
