K-State Golf Alum Aaron Watkins U.S. Open Updates

Kansas State University golf alum Aaron Watkins was apparently not just content to make the U.S. Open. Playing some of the best golf of his career, he has positioned himself well to not only make the cut, but to finish high on the leader board.

After ten holes of play on Day 2, Aaron sits at 1-under for the day, and +1 for the tournament. This is good enough to put him in a tie for 10th overall, with several other golfers. The leader is Michael Murphy at -4, followed by Tiger Woods and David Toms at -1. All three men have yet to tee off on Day 2.  [12:29 PM CST]

Watkins gave a stroke back to par on 11, and is now at even par for the day, and +2 for the tournament. This puts him in a tie for 19th, and still in a strong position to make the cut. [12:47 PM CST]

A birdie on 12 puts Watkins back at 1-under on the day, and +1 for the tournament. He now sits in a tie for 12th overall. [12:59 PM CST]

Watkins has parred 13, to stay at 1-under on the day (+1 overall), and in a tie for 12th place. [1:10 PM CST]

Holding it together at Even on the day through 17 (+2 overall), Watkins sits 18th with one to play in Round 2. [2:09 PM CST]
