Illinois St. Head Coach Tim Jankovich Takes Assistant Job at SMU

Jankovich has become Larry Brown’s “head coach in waiting”, with no set time frame for his elevation. I know that SMU is heading into the Big East after next year, but I just don’t get this at all.
One thing this makes very clear: K-State dodged a bullet when we did not hire Jankovich. He was desperate enough to move from a head coaching position, to an assistant coaching position at a school that is in no better shape than the one from which he came. How he was even in the conversation for the head coaching position at KSU is beyond me.
