It’s hump day for those of us 9-5 working cats, but for the K-State football team, today is just one more in a two-week off-period of daily practices before visiting Oklahoma State on October 5th. Here are your daily headlines:

The football team isn’t taking a rough 2-2 start lying down, and is working to regroup, according to the Topeka Capital-Journal. From receiver Tyler Lockett:

"“Not everything is going to go your way. The past two years things were going our way, but now we have to find out how tough and strong everybody is, not only physically but mentally. If you reach your goals, we can look back and say we didn’t give up. We’re in that process right now.”"

Speaking of Lockett, following his break out performance against Texas he’s been added to the list of Biletnikoff Award candidates. The award recognizes the best wide receiver in the nation.

Bring On The Cats tries to make sense of what happened across a lackluster slate of Big 12 games last weekend.

A junior on the women’s cross country team has been making some serious noise this year. The school’s athletic website spotlights Laura Galvan.

"This is the first time since 2008 that a K-State runner has won Runner of the Week honors twice in the same season. In 2008, Beverly Ramos received the award twice after her performances in the Wichita State Gold Classic and the Cowboy Jamboree in Stillwater, Okla."

Former K-State quarterback Josh Freeman has reportedly been benched. Freeman has been publicly at odds with Tampa Bay all season and is likely on his way out by next season (or sooner).

"Freeman, who was not elected a captain this season after holding the key leadership role the previous three seasons, has completed only 45.7% of his passes for 571 yards and three interceptions this season."
