It’s hump day, we’re 37 days to kick-off against North Dakota State, and LB Cody Marley steps into the spotlight today with the #37 jersey. The redshirt junior from Denton, TX has endured a tremendous journey to get to where he is, and we’re here to celebrate what he brings to the field. So let’s get started.
Marley was a three-star recruit out of Texas and ranked the #72 inside linebacker in the nation by Rivals. After redshirting in 2010 he was able to break into the rotation against Oklahoma and Oklahoma State in 2011. However, he suffered a season-ending injury and lost about 15 pounds in the offseason not being able to get in the weight room. According to BringOnTheCats, he then lost another 17 pounds due to an illness that hospitalized him. He’s experienced more weight fluctuation than the yo-yo dieter I work next to.
