Jug Of News (08.02.12)

Welcome to our humble abode. Pull up a seat and grab a glass for a sip from today’s Jug of News. Hit the jump for where KSU ranks on my top 25 ballot, where the team is ranked by the Sporting News (you’ll like it), and Pres. Schulz releasing his “Letter to Campus.” Yeah, it was a light news day.
Recently I was offered a vote in this season’s Fansided College Football Poll. I accepted the opportunity, and yesterday I released my ballot for the preseason version of the poll. The complete poll, as voted on by various writers across the Fansided network, will be released shortly. I will link it in the hub once it’s released.
Speaking of rankings and such, The Sporting News released their own Top 25 yesterday. In it, K-State is ranked higher than I’ve seen them be ranked in any other place–including on my own ballot. My only trepidation with moving them past #10 (where I had them) is that the Big 12 is incredibly deep this season, and it’s possible that the Cats will be a better team than last year, but end up at something like 9-3 (6-3). Still, after all the naysaying we’ve put up with from the braying media, it’s nice to have one of the main outlets really show K-State some respect.
Always an interesting read, this month’s letter from Dr. Schulz touches on several issues. These include the Penn State imbroglio, Virginia’s president being forced to resign and then being reinstated weeks later, and many other things. It’s well worth the few minutes it takes to read it.
CODA: Kevin Kietzman–and his son, Spencer–are lying liars, who tried to convince people that former K-State great Jacob Pullen is a serial criminal. Just keeping that little tidbit front-of-mind, in hopes that people will pressure them both into issuing a full retraction and an apology.
