Welcome to our humble abode. Pull up a seat and grab a glass for a sip from today’s Jug of News. Hit the jump for Arthur Brown receiving more much-deserved praise,  Ahearn getting a brand-new purple paint job, more on the new college football playoff, and more.

The renaissance of Arthur Brown has been a fascinating story. Everything his younger brother is not, many stories have been written about this very-deserving young man. CBS Sports is the latest to take an admiring look at the turnaround that has occurred after his transfer to Kansas State. The article is a very interesting read.

The Old Barn, as many who love Ahearn Field House refer to it, is getting something of a face lift–a purple one, in fact. As a person who worked in the field house during my mid-to-late-90s collegiate years, I can say this is long overdue. I can also say that I wish the basketball team had never left that creaky, wonderful, musty, old, beautiful facility.

The college presidents have officially approved the conference commissioners’ 4-team playoff proposal. Now that the formality of their approval is behind us, ESPN’s Mark Schlabach reminds us that some problems still remain. Whatever those problems, though, at least now the championship will be decided in at least a bit more rational manner.

And finally, in what is becoming an almost daily ritual, ESPN’s Big 12 blogger David Ubben finds another way to take a shot at KSU. This week, it’s in his mailbag, where he basically calls out Bill Snyder for his scheduling philosophy, calling it “not gutsy.” Even when what he says is ostensibly true, he finds a way to make it feel like he’s taking a shot.
