MANHATTAN, Kan. – With excitement building under new head coach Bruce Weber and with the return of four starters, including two-time All-Big 12 performer Rodney McGruder, K-State Athletics announced today official ticket information for the 2012-13 men’s basketball season.
In addition, the department also announced information about its contest with Elite Eight participant Florida in the annual Hy-Vee Wildcat Classic at the Sprint Center in Kansas City on Saturday, December 22.
A variety of ticket packages are available with ticket prices remaining the same for the 2012-13 season. Courtside and floor seating can be purchased at $645 and $595, respectively, while chairback seating prices range from $445 to $545. Cat Cushion seating is available from $365 to $395 and bench seating is $345. Faculty and staff seating can be purchased starting at $276 for bench, $316 for Cat Cushions and $356 for chairbacks. There are also a limited number of a Young Alumni packages priced at $200, which are available for all K-State undergraduate degree recipients in the past five years (May 2008 to May 2012). An Ahearn Fund contribution is required for all premium, chairback and cushioned seating. Specific required giving levels by section are listed atwww.AhearnFund.com.
Season ticket holders may begin renewing their accounts on Monday, June 18 online at www.kstatesports.com or by calling the K-State Athletics Ticket Office at (800) 221.CATS, while renewal invoices and season-ticket pricing brochures will be mailed to season-ticket holders on Monday, June 25. Season-ticket holders will have until Wednesday, August 15 to arrange payment and retain their seats for the 2012-13 season.
New ticket holders are encouraged to purchase season tickets prior to the August 15 deadline online atwww.kstatesports.com or by calling the K-State Athletics Ticket Office at (800) 221.CATS. New season-ticket requests will be handled utilizing the K-State Priority Points system which rewards fans for their history of season ticket purchases and contributions to the Ahearn Fund. All requests are based on seat availability and specific locations are not guaranteed.
Fans purchasing tickets online on June 18 will receive a code (one-time only use) for 20 percent off at the K-State Online Store and K-State Pix and will be enrolled in a prize drawing. These prizes include a Loge Box party for 10 for a non-conference game, dinner with the coaching staff, opportunity to play a pick-up game in Bramlage Coliseum, serve as a honorary coach for a non-conference game, American Airline round-trip vouchers, a one-year free subscription to K-StateHD.TV and a 2012-13 autographed team poster.
There are also incentives for fans purchasing online before the Friday, July 13 early-bird deadline, including a $10 discount off the $25 season processing fee. Fans will also be entered into a drawing for several prizes, including two courtside tickets for a home non-conference game of their choosing, two tickets to the Hy-Vee Wildcat Classic against Florida at the Sprint Center, a Nike K-State purple jersey customized with their name and a 2012-13 autographed basketball. Early-bird renewals paid in full online using the e-check payment method will also receive an additional $15 savings off in the processing fee.
Payment plans for season-ticket purchases by credit card are available, including a six-month payment option for fans purchasing tickets by Monday, July 16 and a five-month payment plan for those purchasing by August 15. Credit card payment plans can be coordinated through the online renewal applications at www.kstatesports.com, or by calling the athletics ticket office for both renewal and new ticket accounts.
Season ticket holders and Ahearn Fund members will have the opportunity to pre-order priority seating for the December 22 contest with Florida at the Sprint Center in Kansas City. Tickets for the Hy-Vee Wildcat Classic are priced at $200 for courtside, $60 for lower-level sideline seating, $30 behind the baskets, $20 for the upper level sidelines and $10 each behind the baskets in the upper level. All orders made through the athletics ticket office prior to the August 15 season ticket renewal deadline will be seated in order of athletics department priority points, while season ticket holder discounts will be available through August 15 on select seats for the game at the Sprint Center.
The Wildcats continue to possess one of the top home atmospheres in the country as Bramlage Coliseum has been sold out each of the past two seasons. K-State ranks as one of just 14 schools nationally to draw more than 12,000 in paid attendance for every regular season home game over the last two seasons. The list also includes Kentucky, Syracuse, Louisville, North Carolina, Tennessee, Wisconsin, Kansas, Illinois, Michigan State, New Mexico, Vanderbilt and Creighton.
Last season, K-State averaged 12,783 fans per game to 16 home games in 2011-12 to rank 25th nationally and third in the Big 12. It marked the fifth time in the last six seasons that the squad ranked among the Top 35 in men’s basketball attendance. The team also had 16,685 fans witness the Alabama game at the Sprint Center.
Kansas State made its fourth appearance in the NCAA Tournament in the last five seasons in 2011-12, as the Wildcats posted a 22-11 overall record and earned a tie for fifth place in the Big 12 standing with a 10-8 mark. It marked the school’s sixth consecutive 20-win season and sixth straight trip to the postseason, both firsts for the program. The 2012-13 squad will return 13 lettermen, including seven players with starting experience, for Weber, who has won more than 300 games and advanced to eight NCAA Tournaments during his coaching career.
Although the full schedule is not yet available, the school will play 19 games (including two exhibition games) in the friendly confines of Bramlage Coliseum, which will be celebrating its 25th anniversary as the home of Wildcat basketball in 2012-13. K-State has won nearly 75 percent of its games in the building’s existence, including double-digit wins in each of the last 11 seasons. The 2012-13 season will also be the second year of the 18-game, round-robin Big 12 Conference schedule, including visits from NCAA Tournament teams Baylor, Iowa State, Kansas, Texas and West Virginia.
