Colbert Hills to host first pro tournament in course history

MANHATTAN, Kan. – Eight current and former Kansas State golfers will compete in the Colbert Charity Classic at Colbert Hills Golf Course this Wednesday through Saturday, June 13-16. This weekend’s event, which is part of the Adams Golf Pro Tour Series, marks the first-ever professional tournament held at Colbert Hills.

In round one action, former Wildcats Joe Kinney, Robert Streb and Kyle Yonke will tee off from hole No. 10 at 8:44 a.m., on Thursday, followed by a round two tee time off the No.1 tee at 12:54 p.m., on Friday.

Former K-State standouts Mitch Gregson and Joe Ida are scheduled to begin round one action from the first tee at 1:05 p.m., on Thursday. The duo will be the fifth group to start at the 10th tee as their second round will begin at 8:55 a.m.

Beginning play at the same times as Gregson and Ida will be former K-Stater Matt Van Cleve, who will start on the 10th hole on Thursday and the first hole on Friday.

Teeing off in the final group of Thursday and Friday’s rounds will be current Wildcats Alex Carneyand Curtis Yonke. Both golfers will begin play at 1:16 p.m., on Thursday and 9:05 a.m., on Friday. Carney will commence round one action at the No.1 tee while Yonke will begin play on the 10th tee.

The event consists of 72 holes of stroke play. The field will be cut to the top 40 percent of the starting field and ties after 36 holes with a maximum of 50 players and ties. Any participant who cards a score of 86 or higher during the first round will automatically be eliminated from the field.
