Welcome to our humble abode. Pull up a seat and grab a glass for a sip from today’s Jug of News. Hit the jump for K-State golfers doing good work, Weber (officially) making his final coaching hire, a bit of Big 12 expansion news (Neinas-style), and updates on the new Basketball Training Facility and West Stadium Center. Also, Fanning has written his final letter to Frank, and we have it exclusively here on JOS.

Four K-Staters have advanced to sectional qualifying for golf’s 112th U.S. Open. Held in San Francisco this year, all sectionals will take place on June 4, with the U.S. Open to be held from June 11-17.

Bruce Weber has made the hiring of Chester Frazier for the last assistant coaching position official. While some of the “buzz” surrounding this hire is in regards to Frazier’s having left his German professional team in the midst of the playoffs, this seems to be a solid hire. At 26, Frazier is young and energetic, and appears to have some solid recruiting ties as well.

As Big 12 Commissioner, Chuck Neinas has only weeks left in his tenure. He remains, however, a complete ninja when it comes to dealing with the press. He has convinced many in the media that he is “nixing” Big 12 expansion. However, if you read what he says carefully, it’s fairly clear that’s not what he is doing.

Finally, the upgrades to our athletic programs are continuing apace. KStateSports.com has pages devoted to both the new Basketball Training Facility, as well as West Stadium Center expansion that are well worth a look. The BTF page in particular has some great photo galleries and videos.
