Welcome to our humble abode. Pull up a seat and grab a glass for a sip from todays Jug of News. Hit the jump for a look at next season’s Big 12 Heisman candidates, next season’s Big 12 NFL draft prospects, reactions to the hiring of new Big 12 commissioner, and more.

A guy we know is on the list of Big 12 Heisman candidates for next season. Collin Klein very much deserves such notice, and I am quite sure there will be many more laurels bestowed on him before next season arrives. However, no Cats made the cut for Todd McShay’s list of potential Big 12 first-round draft picks next season. McShay includes four Big 12 players, with two from Texas (DEs Jackson Jeffcoat and Alex Okafor), and one each from Baylor (WR Terrance Williams) and Oklahoma (QB Landry Jones).

As reported in yesterday’s Jug, the Big 12 has a new commissioner. He is Bob Bowlsby, formerly the athletic director at Stanford University. David Ubben (erstwhile Big 12 blogger for ESPN) has compiled the reactions from various corners to the hire.

As also reported yesterday, in a stand-alone piece, Bruce Weber has landed his second recruit, in PG Michael Orris. He is a pass-first PG, who appears to be a good fit for Weber’s motion offense. Austin Meek, of the Topeka Capitol-Journal has more information on the signing. Speculation will certainly begin as to which of the current scholarship players will not return next season.

Over at GoPowerCat.com, D. Scott Fritchen has an interesting piece on Collin Klein. Apparently, Collin is the first player to be selected as captain three times in his career. Fritchen also delves deeper into what might be called Klein’s “intangibles”, which he feels put KSU in a better position to win than they were at this point last year.
