Big 12 Introduces New Commissioner

As reported yesterday, Bob Bowlsby is the new Big 12 Commissioner. He has much to recommend him, not the least of which is the respect which other commissioners already hold for him.

Bowlsby comes across as a very strong presence, which the Big 12 needs, as they deal with the Jim Delaneys and Mike Slives of the world. He is quite close with Pac-12 commissioner Larry Scott, which gives the Big 12 a natural ally, where there used to be a foe.

Finally, he has no ties to either UT or Oklahoma, which is good for the rest of the league, as those two schools have run over the others during intraconference disagreements in the past.  In this time of great change for the Big 12, I’m really excited to see the direction in which Bowlsby takes our conference.

The Big 12 has now made audio of the conference call with the press available.
