On my desk at home I have one of those giant desk calendars that I use to plan out my month. I also like to draw in the upcoming Kansas State games on it with the logos of their opponent for no reason other than it gives me a great reminder of the upcoming games and more to look forward to. Then, just like millions of people around the world, at the end of the month I rip off the previous month and trash it. Before doing that though, I get to look back and remember the month that was. Sometimes it’s good, sometimes it’s bad. At the end of January, things were really bad. On top of more players leaving the team, the month’s record was a junky 3-5 which made the Wildcat’s overall record 14-8. Doubt had crept into Wildcat Nation and nobody was thinking NCAA tournament. Ripping that month off and crumbling it for the trash was therapeutic.

Looking back at the month of February on the other hand was great! Kansas State regrouped, rattling off a 7-1 record (within .2 seconds of 8-0) and became the hottest team in college basketball. The question being asked went from “will K-State make the tournament?” to “will K-State be a 5 or 6 seed and who would want to face them?” This time, tearing off the month and crumbling it only turned the page to see the logos of the final regular season game, the BIG 12 tournament, and the NCAA’s. The next month brings excitement and is looking great for Kansas State so after getting a win against Iowa State on senior night this Saturday, be sure to get ready for a wild ride through March.
